Rick Sloan, Director

Rick has served as a Board Member for the Cordova Recreation and Park District (CRPD) for the past 10 years. Before that he served on the Sacramento County Fair Board for 5 years. Rick’s service as a director has always come with the commitment to move organizations forward toward their mission, keep them financially responsible and transparent. He is familiar with how to successfully serve our diverse Rancho Cordova community. He has certification from the Special District and Local Government Institute and the California Special District Association.  

Rick earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Shortly after moving to Sacramento in 1984, Rick became the Senior Graphic Designer for the Sacramento Regional Transit District and staff artist for The Sacramento Bee. His talents brought him numerous regional awards and many freelance jobs for non-profit organizations and other private and public clients.

Rick has been involved with the Rancho Cordova Arts group from its inception and even created the Rancho Cordova Arts logo.
For the past15 years, the Cordova Community Council has benefited from Rick‘s artistic ability by creating posters and taking photographs that help publicize community events in Rancho Cordova.
 
Rick’s artwork has shown in numerous solo and group exhibits around California. In 2003, he created the City Seal for the City of Rancho Cordova.  Rick has also taught art classes to students of all ages including at California State University.
